Following Up After College Application Week

This fall, high schools across Oklahoma will participate in College Application Week, enabling seniors statewide to submit at least one online college application – the crucial first step in their college admission journey.

When submitting your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in December, you’ll need to include the colleges you’re considering in the list of institutions that should receive your FAFSA results. Including a college or career technology center on your FAFSA doesn’t mean you’re making a commitment to attend that institution; you’re simply giving each school permission to see your financial data from the completed form. If you’re uncertain about which school to attend next fall, you can make a well-informed decision as to which school best aligns with your needs.

Students can list up to 20 college selections on the FAFSA, so prior to submitting the form consider which colleges you may wish to explore further. Receiving financial aid offers from multiple schools allows you to compare the types and amounts of financial aid offered by each. Before you start receiving the offers, plan on doing some research at OKcollegestart.org to learn more about the colleges you’re considering, as well as the programs and degrees they provide.

Take advantage of all available information you can find! The more you know, the more confident you’ll be in making decisions about your college education and future career.
